Mission Statement
The Sensible Parent is a community of well informed caregivers who base their decisions on the “Three R’s”- research, rationale, and respect. Our community members are knowledgeable in parenting issues and trends. Utilizing this knowledge, they make reasonable judgments, demonstrate steadfast leadership, all while exhibiting compassion for their child’s emotional well being.
Community members of The Sensible Parent aim to build an equitable partnership between child and caregiver. They value their child’s individualism and seek to foster their child’s unique interests and strengths. In doing so, They actively engage their child in discussions related to their interests and seek opportunities to help their child develop useful skills and healthy habits related to their interests.
Community members of The Sensible Parent participate in the collaborative space. Working together, they offer support and validation. They also share their expertise by offering effective strategies and troubleshooting common problems that are presented by other community members.
Community members of The Sensible Parent are self-reflective. They regularly analyze their decision-making process in order to ensure that they are guided by the “Three R’s”- research, rationale, and respect. Community members of The Sensible Parent seek feedback from their child and likeminded stakeholders. They are flexible in revising their plans in order to better serve the needs of their child.
Informed by research, rationale, and respect, the community members of The Sensible Parent are dynamic learners. They are prepared to grow and adapt their practice in order to best serve the child-caregiver relationship. Most importantly, they are dedicated to building empathetic, trustworthy, accountable, and intelligent leadership skills in their children. In doing so, their children will possess the confidence and skill sets necessary to succeed in all areas of their life.
